Freelancers Union : Freelancer get your problems solved here is a national nonprofit organization specially for freelancers that represents the needs and concerns of workforce through advocacy, information and service. According to surveys freelancers along with other independent workers make about 30% of the nation’s workforce.

History of Freelancers : In 1995, Sara Horowitz, a former labor lawyer, founded Working Today to meet the needs of the new, independent workforce. In 2001, Working Today launched the Portable Benefits Network (PBN), to deliver benefits to independent workers in New York City's Silicon Alley. In May 2003, the PBN was renamed Freelancers Union to better reflect the ideas that guide us and all of the services we offer – benefits, resources, and advocacy.

Freelancers Union has received grants and other support from both the State and City of New York, as well as from leading foundations, including the Ford Foundation, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, J.P. Morgan Chase, the New York Community Trust, United Hospital Fund, the Rockefeller Family Fund, and others.
