Are you ready to work from home and quit your regular job

This post is helpful to all those who have been considering quitting the regular job and willing to start some work from home activity or start a business. Once you read this post you'd be in a better position to evaluate if you can quit your full time job to start a business or start working from home.

No doubt there are risks involved in working from home or starting a business and this risk combined with the fear and uncertainty is the major reason most people don't skip their jobs to start something new.  Here are some more important things that you should check before quitting the job:

  1. Reason to leave the job: First ask yourself why you want to quit your full time job. Is this that you are just miserable in your current job. consider taking a short leave and evaluate. I recommend that one must continue the job for as long possible and for the time you have get some sufficient fund in your bank so that you can focus on your your work from home or business startup without much worries.
  2. Daily routine after quitting: Take a paper and note down what your daily routine would be after you leave your job and focus on home based work or business. Chances are there that you might have to spend more time and effort initially OR you might work late nights as you took liberty of your free time and keep putting things to do later.
  3. Are you financially stable: This is a major factor. how are you going to support yourself till the time you start getting the benefits form home based work or business.
  4. Multitasking: In your fixed day you might have limited roles like perform the given set of duties and leave the office at 5. However in a startup business or working from home you have the additional responsibilities like getting business, communication with potential clients, leads conversion, executions, technical support etc. Are you fully prepared for this?
  5. Have you analyzed the competition and the market? This is very important as after a careful competitor and marketing research you can be able to sell your services/products etc competitively.
  6. What is plan B?: Be wise and make keep a back up plan in case things don't work as expected.
I hope these questions can make your situation little easier.

Health & Fitness Tips for Freelance Work from Home Jobs Taking People

This post is in continuation with my previous two post on Freelance tips or you can say tips for people who undertake worm from home jobs online. You can reads the previous post in the links given below, also please fell free to share you feedback or experience with home based jobs. The two post are:

  1. Freelance Work from Home - Tips for freelancers
  2. Freelance Work from Home - Tips for freelancers Continued
Now this third post "Health & Fitness Tips for Freelance Work from Home Jobs Taking People" as the title suggest is not on how to improve earning from home based jobs or how to make online money. This post will simply guide you on health and fitness tips while working from home.

It has been quiet a long time I started working from home full time, initially I tried online jobs part time and on realization of the potential incomes I opted out of my full time job and started working from home. Initially none of my friends and relatives know but later when I was making sufficient amount of income I shared my secret that I was working from home for quiet some time. One of the most frequest question asked by most of the people was:

  1. Don't you get bored at home?
  2. How to you manage to work from home?
  3. How many hours you spent working now?
  4. Do you miss parties and team outings you had when in regular job?
These may be the fear among some people, however I never really get bored or felt like missing my regular job for parties or other facilities etc. Rather I tell all my friends and relatives that I am enjoying lot more while working from home and even I am making more money than my full time job. When I tell them about flexible work hours, time for friends & family members, leaves whenever you want etc then definitely home based jobs are lot more better. Now comming to health and fitness tips for people working from home.

One should take care of health while working from home as it has been seen that while working from home you tend to gain weight as there is less movement involved. Also while working from home most of the people take advantage of the time flexibility and end up working late in the night then eventually waking up late next morning thus disturbing daily routine or body clock. All these activities may lead to poor health if you are not taking care of your health. Below are some tips that may be helpful for you:
  • Join a health club -This will not only keep you fit but also you will have to spend an hour or two in gym thus you will have to manage your time well so as you don't miss the gym.
  • Choose morning time for the health club: Selecting the morning timings has a unique advantage. during my initial months working from home I use to work later in the nights and hence waking up very late, but the moment I changes my health club timing to morning I used to rise up early in the morning and hence I can easily wrap up my work early in the evening. One advantage is mostly health clubs have less crowd in the morning thus trainer gives you proper attentions ;)
  • Keep your weekend free. Try not to keep your work for Saturdays or Sundays. Though there can be some conditions when you may need to work on a weekend but don't make it a habit. Use your weekends for other works like watching movies, shopping, traveling, sleeping or whatever you like to do in free time.
  • Plan some vacations - Take a break from the work and plan some vacations ( You can check http://world-travel-information.blogspot.com/ for some top destinations to visit). Thus you can enjoy a break from the regular work and come back to work fully refreshed.

Michigan's April jobless rate was highest in US

Forty-four states lost jobs in April, led by California where employers slashed 63,700 positions, as the recession took a further toll on U.S. workers.

Trailing California in over-the-month job losses were: Texas, which saw 39,500 jobs vanish; Michigan, which lost 38,400 jobs; and Ohio, where payrolls fell 25,200, according to a U.S. Labor Department report issued Friday.

The few winners included Arkansas and Montana, followed by Florida -- a dose of good news for a state that's been battered by the housing collapse.

California's unemployment rate dipped to 11 percent last month, fifth-highest in the country. Michigan's jobless rate was the highest at 12.9 percent, followed by Oregon at 12 percent, South Carolina at 11.5 percent and Rhode Island at 11.1 percent.

As the recession eats into sales and profits, companies have laid off workers and turned to other cost-cutting measures, such as holding down hours and freezing or trimming pay.

Since the recession began in December 2007, the U.S. has lost a net total of 5.7 million jobs. The nationwide unemployment rate now stands at 8.9 percent, a quarter-century high.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and some economists hope the pace of layoffs will moderate as the recession eases its grip and likely ends later this year.

But even if employers reduce firings, the nationwide unemployment rate is expected to hit double digits by year's end. Employers won't be in any mood to ramp up hiring until they feel confident that any recovery has staying power, economists say.

In Friday's report, Arkansas and Montana tied for the biggest over-the-month payroll gains at 1,500 a piece. They were followed by Florida, which saw an increase of 1,300 jobs.

On the hiring front, North Dakota again registered the nation's lowest unemployment rate -- 4 percent. It was followed by Nebraska with a 4.4 percent jobless rate, Wyoming at 4.5 percent and South Dakota with 4.8 percent.

In another bit of mildly encouraging news, the Labor Department reported that mass layoffs -- job cuts of 50 or more by a single employer -- dipped to 2,712 in April, from a record-high of 2,933 in March. Still, more than 271,000 workers were fired in last month's cuts, more than double the total from April 2008.

Layoffs in manufacturing, construction and retail are common threads running through the states with the highest unemployment rates. Another thread: difficulties faced by South Carolina, Michigan, Rhode Island and other states, to lure new types of companies to help cushion the loss of manufacturing jobs and retrain laid-off factory workers for other kinds of employment.

Nearly 6.7 million people nationwide are drawing state unemployment insurance, the highest on records dating to 1967, the federal government reported Thursday. The crush has exhausted unemployment funds in California, New York and elsewhere, forcing them to tap the federal government for money to keep paying benefits.

States are hurting as the recession cuts into revenues.

Saddled with a $21.3 billion budget deficit, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has said thousands of state employees must be laid off and billions of dollars must be slashed from the budget. His administration has started sending layoff notices to 5,000 state employees with the goal of cutting the general work force by 5 percent.

Since December, California has led the nation in monthly job losses, according to the U.S. Labor Department.

Against that backdrop, Californians' personal income fell statewide for the first time since 1938, leading to a sharp drop in tax revenue.

One in every 138 California households received a foreclosure filing last month, according to RealtyTrac Inc. That was the third-highest rate in the country behind Nevada's one in every 68 households, and Florida's one in every 135 households.

If California tries to borrow more to help pay its bills, it will be costly. The state has the worst credit rating in the nation. The state treasurer's office estimates that California would pay an extra $500 million to $1 billion in lender fees on a $15 billion short-term loan.

Britishers may loos 60000 jobs in 2009

As many as 600,000 people could lose their jobs in Britain next year, making 2009 the worst year for unemployment since 1991, personnel experts warned on Monday.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) said a widely-expected recession would bite hard in Britain next year and could push unemployment close to the three million mark before the economy begins to recover.

"By the end of 2009 the number of people unemployed and actively seeking work will have increased to 2.8 million, one million above the autumn 2008 figure," John Philpott, the CIPD's chief economist, said in its annual Barometer Report.

Home based jobs: Tips for self employment

Working at a job where you are self employed can be a real life enhancer. But there are certain things you have to do to be successful over the long term.

The most important thing is you have to be self motivated.
You need to be the one to drive yourself. Most people are not self motivated enough to be able to work a job where they are self employed. They need to work in a set frame work with a supervisor managing them and assigning them duties. When you are self employed there usually is no one there to scold you if you are late getting started. You are often responsible for a job in its entirety. It can be a lot of responsibility. If you don't perform well you will not be employed long. There is far less lenience than in a conventional job.

One of the best ways to stay motivated is to set goals for yourself. You need to think of things that appeal to you and make you happy. For example many people are motivated by money. Money is a great tool that can give you many choices and flexibility. But for some people it might be having time off. If you love to golf or just want to spend time with your family planning a day off or several days off might be a great incentive. Whatever motivates you is what you should choose.
Once you decide what motivates you set it as your goal. Then determine what you need to do, defined by some level of job performance, to achieve your goal. For example, you may say that you want to take a four day weekend with your family and go somewhere fun. You tell yourself that if you finish your current project before deadline and secure another assignment that you have earned this reward. This way you will have something to work for.

You have to be Organized.
Because you do not have a well oiled infrastructure to work within when you are self employed it is critical to be organized. If you don't have anyone working with you that can help you then take advantage of outside services. For busy people, there are many inexpensive services to help you stay organized. Voice Mail, secretary services, full service copy centers such as Kinko's and much more. If you are a do it yourselfer, there are plenty of software programs that can help keep you organized like Microsoft Outlook for example. Programs like this will let you set your calendar and will actually come on and remind you of meetings and important events. You can also store phone numbers, email addresses, fax numbers and much more in easy to access files. Having a sophisticated digital answering machine and email can help you with ensuring you always get your messages and makes it easy for people to communicate with you. In addition, you should consider having a fax machine. You will almost certainly need a computer that is linked to the Internet with email capability.

Aside from technology there is good old fashion filing systems. You want to keep a calendar and a good filing system. Be sure to keep all your receipts if you are employed as an independent sub-contractor. When in doubt keep it, and keep it for seven years.

You have to have Self Discipline.
One of the most important keys to success in working independently is having self discipline. If you work on your own and particularly if you work at home there are plenty of distractions. You usually will not have a supervisor checking up on you and guiding you at your work space. You will have to set your own schedule and maintain it. You will have to get organized and stay organized. You will have to return your phone, fax and email messages. Part of staying disciplined is focusing on a goal. If you have something to motivate you it will help keep you on track. Part of being self disciplined means following through.

You have to be dedicated.
Finally, you have to be dedicated. Being dedicated means that you are committed to your employer to doing the best job you are capable of. That you will get the job done even when there are obstacles in your way. You don't give up easily, that you have persistence. Being dedicated and hard working is often the top quality looked for by employers. If you are dedicated you can be sure you will never be out of work. This is a critical element of success.

Though I undertake work at home jobs like paid surveys, mystery shopping along with SEO freelancing (I work as search engine optimisation expert at a web design and Internet Marketing company). Last week few of the employees of our company were fired due to data theft and sharing companys confidential information with people outside. So in the end management took the decision's to have a bong agreement signed with all the employees of the company.

I was also asked to sign the agreement, it includes twos years time working at the comapany and one NDA (non disclosure agreement) At this part of life I am not in the condition to sign any type of bond ,,, SO i asked for some time from management and in the end I today decided but I am going to share with you all.

Fee Work From Home Jobs - real ay to find ork at home jobs online

Isn't it unbelievable that there are still so many web pages that are able to make tons of money by charging work at home seekers money up front for no fee work from home job leads. Don't get me wrong, I understand the need to make money and why some sites charge a fee. The fact of the matter is there is a lot of effort needed to go through hundreds of job boards and web sites to find no fee work from home jobs.
Major Jobs Sites Suck!

If you haven't already figured it out, the big job sites such as Monster.com and Careerbuilder.com are not specialized in free work from home. The at home jobs listed there are usually mixed in with regular jobs and the thousands of home based business opportunities which tend to require a fee.
